Just got an email for a great deal for “open top JEEP tours” in Grand Teton. I click through thinking “oh, I wonder what kind of jeep and how they’ve modified...oh”

Kinja'd!!!

Two lies make a truth. I totally see an “open top JEEP”.

Do you think they put seatbelts in there? or it more of a ‘hold my beer’ style tour? Also wouldn’t that be nice and relaxing on the highway..

Considering they are based in Driggs, ID, I wouldn’t be holding my breath on the seatbelt issue.

Reminds me of how my friends in high school always called my Trooper a “jeep”. Bugged the hell out of me.

My grating issue is my entire extended family forgetting that Land Cruiser is Different entirely from Land Rover.

I drove jeep tours for a couple of summers during college out of Durango and Silverton..... Fun shralping up t0 over 13,000 feet in old Jeep Scramblers... But having them filled with tourons, not so much......

And you wouldn’t believe the traction you had with 8 fat-ass mid-westerners in the back... but totally sketchy at highway speeds.... total white-knuckle driving.....

Jeep should sue.

I’ve often thought long and hard of what being a Jeep tour driver would be like. I would think “really fun at first” turning into “demoted to walmart greeter” towards the end.

to be fair, its the coupon company that gets all JEEPY on this. This company doesn’t outright call them “JEEPS”

google image search for “pink jeep tours” and you’ll see some of what you’re looking for, inlcuding some sweet Jeep longbed pickup trucks.

The Yacht and the Barge. They also sponsor the Land Speed Record.

All of this is orchestrated by their Irish CEO, Land O’Calrissian.

I know they’re not doing anything too serious in terms of off roading, but that pop up tent looks not sturdy in case it goes shiny side down.

Just coming here to post this. I really enjoyed my Pink Jeep Tour, including some real (light) offroading and steep-ish grades.

It sucked. Yeah, fun to play in the mtns with someone else’s jeep.. But being in a car with 8-10 tourists for 5 hour stints got old fast.

“ It’s cold! ” “ Ma’am, the brouchure said to bring a jacket as we’d be spending most of the day above tree-line .”

“ It’s so bumpy! ” “ It’s a 4-wheel drive tour ma’am, not sure what you expected ”

“ I’m hungry! ” “ we’re on a 5 hour tour ma’am, brouchure said to bring some snacks ”

One buddy got so sick of tourists, he finally told them at the start of each tour that, “ since my talking can’t do justice to the majesty of the mountains, I’m not going to talk for the rest of the tour ” Another buddy, the jeep he had for he day lost it’s brakes coming down engineer pass above Silverton... thank goodness for low gearing....

Yeah... it was a total shit-show... But, obviously some nice off-roading experience under the belt due to the thousands and thousands and thousands of miles in 4-low creeping all over the San Juans...

Edited to add- the all-time worst was when you’d get a super obese couple/family and they’d all sit together on one side of the jeep.. and you’d have to tactfully explain the importance of trimming the balance.... they always hated that... haha

I’ve daydreamed about being a tour guide and just lying through my teeth 100% of the time. “Those formations? Those were actually built by us, if im honest, to impress the tours...”

Kinja'd!!! BobintheMtns > HammerheadFistpunch

Oh yeah... bullshitting tourists was de rigueur for the job... We’d make so much shit up....

“Yeah, this old mining site was the scene of a cannibalistic massacre when heavy snow stopped supplies all winter and the miners had no other choice but to kill and eat each other”

“Why do beavers build dams? To harvest fish!”

Yeah... bullshitting was the only fun part after a while

Did you know that Hardscrablle hill in Canyonlands is actually named for a scrabble game that lasted 2 weeks during the uranium mining era?! Don’t bother looking it up on the internet, you can’t trust everything you read on the internet.
